The poem “Snake” has been written by D.H. Lawrence who is a very famous poet of his time. In this poem the poet has described a thirsty snake which comes to the water trough in the poet’s house. It is Summer and the poet is also thirsty and comes to water trough to drink water where the Snake has come to remove its thirst. To see the black snake he becomes afraid and waits for his chance to drink. After drinking water, the snake looks at him and after a few minutes it starts going back. The poet does not want to kill it but he wants to talk to it. The snake starts in entering the hole and immediately he kills it without any reason. After killing a snake, hi starts repenting because he has killed an innocent snake which come to his house to drink only water, but because of his fearness he commits a crime and he thinks that he will be punished why God because of killing a loving creature. He compares the snake to a sea – bird Albtross in the last lines of the poem. It is a very interesting poem.
